Gadsden Gratitude…Glenn Beck

Last week Glenn Beck listed 9 principles and asked how many of the 9 you agreed with.

1. America is good.

2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.

3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.

4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.

5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.

6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.

7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.

8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.

9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

Me?……All 9.  How about you?  If you agree with at least 7 of the 9…you can go to Glenn’s “WE Surround Them” page and see that it’s not just us.

For a fascinating history of the Gadsden flag go here.

  1. I agree with all nine!

  2. #5 gives me great pause as there are times when a law is passed that contradicts or conflicts with the other 8 principles. When this occurs we must stand up against the unjust law. D

  3. I agree with all the Questions, They are the foundation to moral thinking.

  4. 1. Not necessarily, certainly we do good and bad. I don’t find myself obligated to accept everything or anything that is American as good without critical thought.

    2. No, I’m an atheist. My freedom to or from religion is part of the first amendment for a reason.

    3. Absolutely.

    4. Law and family are not one in the same. Anyone with any insight into sociology would know how grotesque such an ideal is. Family is an important part of society and laws should reflect that, but a family is not beyond the law.

    5. True with little exception , although odd when compared to Beck’s ideals.

    6. Loaded statement. I’ll stick with FDR on this one.

    7. I work hard for my money, but this is a loaded statement. Once again, I’ll go with FDR on this one.

    8. Absolutely.

    9. Yes, up until you break #5.

Hey look, I must be a communist/socialist/marxist/fascist. This was fun.
