Free At Last!

President George W. Bush has commuted the prison sentences of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean.

As a friend of mine said…”Hot Damn!”

  1. Saw this and was very thankful. and I knew Pres Bush would do the right thing.

  2. I’m a little frustrated by this, actually.

    Why?

Because it is indicative of one of the largest, and most accurate, of the complaints against President Bush – his lack of clear and bold leadership.

Sure, he stuck to his guns with Iraq (sometimes, sticking to guns too long, see Rumsfeld, Donald), but so many other times… he did not get out front and LEAD.

He could have commuted long ago… In interviews, he stated that the process needed to be complete, and that he needed all of the information. Fair enough. Please don’t try to convince me that the timeline involved a courier from the Justice Department arriving this morning, handing the President the ‘final report’, he reads it, says, “Well, there you go! Now I know what to do,” and he commutes them.

    Hogwash.

It could have been done much earlier.

He waited till the cover of the last 24 hours.

    That’s not leading… that’s… hiding.

Thank goodness he did the right thing. He did the Right Thing many times during his Presidency. As with this, however, he often didn’t do it fast enough.
