Prayer For The Troops * Cleveland Rally For The Troops 2008

Rev. Rich

Reverend Richard Bartley, Chaplain to the Blue Knights has graciously given me permission to post his invocation from the Troop Rally.

Most Gracious Heavenly Father, we come before you today with heavy hearts as we remember those who have made so very many sacrifices for all of us standing here. Lord, for over 200 years, You have blessed these United States with brave men and women who are willing to defend our freedoms.

Throughout all of history during troubled times people turn to you for comfort, peace, wisdom and salvation. This is evident by the pictures showing our young women and men huddled together in prayer in the cities, on board ships, in the mountains and in the desert. In Your Holy Scriptures you have told us that whenever two or more are gathered in your name – you are there with them.

We thank You Lord for that gift of faith. It is through this faith that we can believe and proclaim that Your sovereignty, wisdom and love, will rein no mater what hardships and danger confront our men and women in uniform in the coming days. Help those who have a relationship with You to remain strong in their faith. But also help those who do not know You so that they will begin to believe in the one true God.

Father, may peace throughout the world be our goal, but never at the cost of compromising that which is right and good for all humanity. Help us to support our troops to be ever vigilant in guarding the liberties that You have bestowed upon us as a nation. Let the courage of our men and women who defend our way of life never be taken for granted.

At this very moment in history, the war on terror has divided our great nation. Lord God, do not let our men and women of the armed forces be forgotten in this political struggle. Give our leaders the wisdom to make the right decisions, decisions that will let our brave young men and women, return safely home with the knowledge that they did not run from the work you put before them, but met it bravely and did what had to be done to preserve the freedoms that we enjoy.

Lord, we ask that You will comfort our wounded and our veterans. Take their pain away and replace it with Your grace. Hold them in Your arms and wipe away their tears. Talk to them and let them know that we all love them and are proud of them and will always support them.

We also pray today for the comfort of all the families and friends of our military whom You have taken home to be with you. May those who have given their lives in the cause of freedom rest forever in Your Holy Presence. Comfort the families who mourn and are left to remember the precious lives of their loved ones. Help us to honor and support them. Let us be ever mindful and never forget each sacrifice made on behalf of the American people by our sons, daughters, husbands, fathers, and friends.

And Almighty Heavenly Father give us the courage and strength we need to stand up and support our armed forces, POW’s MIA’s and all of our veterans – because we need to let everyone know that – – we truly are “One Nation under God” and that we put our trust in you! Let our military brothers and sisters feel our love and support on this day and each and every day forward. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen

Thank You Rev. Rich.

Love, Mom
