Spring Training

“The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It’s been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again. Oh, people will come, Ray. People will most definitely come.”
A happy day at Mom’s house!

  1. I love that quote from Field of Dreams, one of my all-time favorite movies. I hope to God baseball does find its way back into the hearts of Americans, and find its way out of the gutter, image-wise. Because if you look at it as just a game, forget the salaries, the stars, the steroids, it is a thing of beauty, it really is.

  2. Treadmarkz, couldn’t agree more!

  3. It’s called “Field of Dreams” because of all the sleeping that’s brought on by this… “sport”.

    🙂

Not really sure about the video images, but… that first song was pretty spiffy.

  4. SC….thipppptttttt

  5. Field of Dreams- It put IOWA on the map. One of the best along with The Natural.

And how many days until the opener?

I grew up on baseball- the park, Comensky was down the road from my high school. We got Sox tickets for good grades and went down in our Catholic School uniforms for twnight double headers. Can we say jail bait? My friends and I, baked birthday cakes for the bull pen one year.

So baseball makes me feel young, even though I am the Oldest Neo-Con on the Web.

But on another note, “The game Ray, has changed. It has become, what we have become.”

Here’s to when the Native American baseball team aka the Tribe, comes to the CELL aka Home of Blanco Hose, on the SoxSide of Chi-ca-go.

And yes, they do still play the Blues Brothers “Sweet Home Chicago” after the game.
